PROFESSOR BEACH GOT FAT!

November 4th, 2011

Okay, so maybe it was one too many Strawberry Daiquiris on the beach at sunset… or maybe just way too many
Cheeseburgers in Paradise.  No excuses, Professor beach got FAT! 225 lbs FAT.  After years of exploring and enjoying beaches around the world it just wasn't fun anymore. No more fun because when I got to the beach I was ashamed to take off my shirt. Ever feel that way?

My last beach exploring trip to Florida really did it. I just sat in a beach chair under an umbrella. Didn't even want to swim or walk on the beach because I was just too uncomfortable in my skin. Just too much of me “in my skin”. Fast forward two months and I'm down to 205 lbs and on my way to a fit and healthy lifestyle. Join me on my pursuit of health and once again walking the beach with my shirt off.   Watch my progress and see how I did it here.

Gustavia Map

Facts about Gustavia:
St. Barth has long been considered a playground of the rich and famous and is known for its beautiful pristine beaches, gourmet dining in chic bistros and high-end designer shopping.

The Anglican Episcopal Church on the harbor front was built in 1855. Three forts built in the mid- to late-17th century protected the harbor. The sites of Fort Karl, overlooking Shell Beach south of town, and Fort Gustave, at the base of the lighthouse to the north, are popular with hikers. Fort Oscar, at the tip of Gustavia Peninsula, houses the Ministry of Armed Forces. There is a museum at the end of Schoelcher Avenue on the peninsula.

Gustavia has a few restaurants serving American, Italian, Swedish, French and other types of food. Gustavia has many high-end boutiques that are an essential source of capital for the island.

To the northwest lies St. Martin, to the southwest Saba, to the south St. Eustatius and St. Kitts, and ultimately to the southeast Barbuda. It has an area of 21 sq km and a population of 8,398 (census 2006). Its capital is Gustavia, which is also its main harbor. Also known as Saint Barth in French, or St. Barts in English, the collectivity is one of the four territories among the Leeward Islands in the Caribbean that comprise the French West Indies, along with Guadeloupe, Martinique and St. Martin. It is the only one to have historically been a Swedish colony. The Swedish influence can still be found in architecture and street names. The language, cuisine and culture are distinctly French.
